6 Days of this already! You guys are doing great. Today we are going to start with an introduction to classification. Looking ahead, we will do an edpuzzle today, notes tomorrow and Wednesday, Thursday a dichotomous key and a google form over the weeks material. As I create or receive information from the other biology teachers, I will post it in case you want t work ahead. Hope you all had a great weekend.

Let's recap our week!
Monday - Viruses reading worksheet and google form (2 people didn't have their names so please comment below if you completed the form- I know Raja, Caden and Kahlayzia did)
Tues - Virus edpuzzle
Wed - 20 min mobymax on classification
Thurs - 20 min mobymax to finish classification and start viruses
Friday - Finish anything you haven't completed already

Read the notes in your packet on viruses and complete the labeling of the bacteriophage -Try to take a picture of your labeled virus and attach it to the classwork assignment I created.
I am trying to make a picture that you can see to remind you what these are. I will keep working on it in the morning.

Great Job completing Edpuzzle. Yesterday's lesson was to work on the classification lesson in moby max and complete 20 min with 90% or better focus.
Today you need to complete 20 more min.
I will monitor your progress and create a quiz for you based on where you are in the lesson. That is what we will complete tomorrow. (Friday)

Let's recap of what has been completed this week:
1) Virus Webquest - This was your first assignment on Monday 03/16/2020 and should already be done. You were supposed to watch the videos to get ready for the google form today.

2) Notes - you should have read the notes posted tuesday and used them to fill in your notes packet

3) Lytic v Lysogenic cycle response (2 sentences on differences) I am putting up a venn diagram that you can use for this that compares and contrasts the two cycles of Virus reproduction.

4) Virus Ed Puzzle - I will reset it for you if you are not happy with your grade...just let me know!

5) Virus Quizizz - Due by Thursday - Can be done as many times as necessary to get a GREAT grade!!

6)Today: Google Form - I am reposting here - Due Today!! and finish Edpuzzle if you haven't already
For tomorrow- USA testprep practice test is due tomorrow - Let me know TODAY if you need help getting into the system, I will call you if necessary to walk you through the process!

Today students will utilize an online learning platform, Moby Max, to review classification. The program will track time spent on the lesson and focus. Students will earn full credit for 20 minutes of time at 90% or greater focus.

There is a diagram of both the lytic and lysogenic virus reproduction cycles. 

Respond to the prompt on a google doc and turn it in.Complete the quiziz posted on google classroom. (it will show up as a separate assignment. It is 25 questions and should be finished by Thursday) This will be a daily grade.

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a safe and healthy staycation. Today we are going to continue to look at what a virus is and is not.
Yesterday in the reading we should have learned that
1. Viruses are very small!!
2. Viruses are not considered living because they need a host to reproduce and carry out life processes.
Today we will learn
3. Viruses only infect one type of cell
4. Viruses can immediately infect a host or lie dormant until activated
5. Viruses are ALL BAD!!
We will continue to learn about viruses this week to include the diseases they may cause and how they compare to our other living organisms.
Today's assignment is to complete the edpuzzle Virus video posted under assignments for today. It will be graded as daily work. If you need a redo, you can complete the questions as many times as you like. You just need to email me and I will reset if you would like to try again.

Hey boys! Hope you are safe and healthy. Yesterday you should have watched the videos about viruses and read the questions on the webquest.
For today:
1. Read the covid 19 fact sheet and complete the google form attached
2. Complete the fill in the blank notes that are attached under classwork. I handed out a notes packet on Friday. You can either fill out the paper copy or fill out the digital copy. The digital copy can be directly loaded when you hit the turn in button; if you do the paper copy you will need to take a picture and link it on the turn in link. (The questions will be tomorrow's assignment if you want to work ahead)
I am posting the powerpoint that goes along with the notes pages here.

To recap:covid 19 fact sheet; google form; read the attached power point, use it to fill in the blanks on the notes sheet assignment posted in the classwork link above. Turn in the assignment. This will be graded in daily work grades for the week. Continue working on the USA testprep assignment that I told you about yesterday. The link is posted 3.16.20

Assignment #1 (Standard SB4c):
Below is the list of links I gave you last week that goes along with the Virus Webquest handout I gave you Friday. You will be graded on the webquest via a google form later this week. You do NOT have to fill in the webquest but you are responsible for the information!!! Follow the agenda below for what to expect.
As a look ahead to the whole week. We will be working on the notes packet I gave out Friday in class. I will post a copy in a separate post. We will complete the fill in the blank notes and submit, do a google form, complete a compare and contrast chart, and finally I will post an assignment on USA test prep for you to complete. It will be due as Friday's work, but I will post it early if you want to work ahead.

We are covering Viruses as part of a larger standard; why are viruses not living and comparing them to other living organisms. This is a great time to learn about Viruses!

I am Mrs. Katie Thompson, and this is my first year at BHS. I teach biology and environmental science this year. My most important job is being a mom to my 3 kids and a wife to an amazing husband. I have a lot of hobbies and things I enjoy and can't wait to share my experiences with the students at Buford High School.
