ACADEMIC BOWL

Advisor: Mr. Tim Harris
Purpose: The Academic Bowl Team provides an opportunity for academically gifted students to demonstrate their knowledge in competition with the best and the brightest from other schools. There is weekly practice for the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. 

 

 ANTI-VAPING CLUB

Advisor: Mr. Jeff Gillis
Purpose: The Vaping Attention To Prevention Club seeks to educate teens about the harmful effects of e-cigarettes so they can make educated choices in their future.  Our campaigns will combat the bombardment of pro-vaping advertising that young people are exposed to via mass marketing and social media.

Band

BAND [MARCHING]

Advisor: Mr. Matt Young
Purpose: The BHS Band teaches sound, quality instruction of instrumental methods to all students, and builds the next generation of leaders for the community and beyond.

Beta

BETA CLUB

Advisor: Ms. Leah Curtright
Purpose: The Beta Club is a service club for sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are on the Honor Roll and Principal’s Honor Roll.

Purpose: The Buford High School Book Club seeks to promote and celebrate reading for pleasure. All students are welcome to come and share in meaningful and lighthearted conversation over a common text. The BHS Book Club will meet monthly to discuss, suggest, and revel in exciting literature.

BUFORD STUDENT LEADERSHIP COUNCIL

Advisor: Mr. Tim Harris 
Purpose: BSLT is a faculty-selected group that undergoes intense training to produce influential leaders. In turn, the students lead their peers to success through positive reinforcement and constructive criticism.

Purpose: In this club, students enjoy strategizing about the game of chess and competing with their peers.

Purpose: DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.

DIVERSITY CLUB

Advisor: Ms. Lacrecia Smith
Purpose: The Diversity Club is open to all BHS students. Students will have opportunities to participate in activities to learn about the importance of accepting and appreciating diversity. The ultimate goal is to improve awareness of diverse issues while making a positive impact on the school, district and community.

FBLA

FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA

Advisor: Mrs. Cheri Edwards
Purpose: FBLA inspires and prepares students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. This club participates in local community service and regional, state and national competitions. 

 
FCCLA

FAMILY, CAREER, & COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA

Advisor: Mrs. Jennifer Wood & Coach David Snell
Purpose: The Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America provides an opportunity for students who enjoy Family and Consumer Sciences to advance their skills and develop leadership qualities.

FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES

Purpose: FCA is a student-led, before-school club that serves the growing relationship between an athlete and God through fellowship in and out of church.

HOPE CLUB

Advisor: Mrs. Carmen Torres

Purpose: HoPe is an organization focused on providing students a pathway through high school. Our mission is to increase the graduation rate among Hispanic high school students through leadership, education, and community service.We provide students with a community of like-minded individuals who will encourage, challenge, and motivate each other to achieve academic and professional success. We believe each student is one caring individual away from being a success story. KEY CLUB

Purpose: The Key Club is a civic organization that teaches leadership by serving others. It is a student--led club under the sponsorship of the local Kiwanis Club.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Advisor: Mrs. Jennifer Pinkerton
Purpose: NHS is made up of juniors and seniors with a 95 average or higher.

Purpose: NAHS explores various mediums and methods for creating art in a community of inspired artists. The purpose of the National Art Honor Society is to inspire and recognize students who have shown outstanding ability and interest in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in attaining the highest standards in art scholarship, character, service, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community.

NATIONAL SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY

Advisor: Ms. Jamie Thomas
Purpose: To recognize high achievement in Spanish by secondary students and promote a continued interest in Hispanic studies. 

 
Skills USA

SKILLS USA

Advisor: Mrs. Kathy Shirley, Mr. Nick Beshiri, and Coach Casey Laws
Purpose: SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. We provide educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in the nation’s classrooms. This club participates in local community service and regional, state and national competitions.

 

SPANISH CLUB

Advisor: Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Paez, Mrs. Torres, Mr. Varini, Mr. Schieber
Purpose: The Spanish Club furthers student knowledge of the Spanish language and culture.

 

THESPIAN SOCIETY

Advisor: Mrs. Kim Staples, Mrs. Emily McClain
Purpose: The Thespian Society gives students who are interested and talented in acting and musical theatre the opportunity to express themselves through other characters.
